Reminder – Yard sale is this Saturday, 8am – 2pm.
The pool will open this Saturday. However, there is still some work that needs to be completed, but the contractor cannot get here for 2-3 more weeks. Therefore, the pool will close for 2-3 days (TBD) at that time. We will let you know when they let us know.
There have been some delays with the front entrance due to the City inspectors office, but we are now heading in a positive direction. The inspectors can come out Friday (unless something on their end changes) and concrete is scheduled for delivery that day. We are hopeful that the sign will be back in place, inspected and approved by the end of next week.
Lastly, I am taking a day off next week, contingent on the weather. The office will be closed Tuesday unless it rains. If it does rain the office will be closed on Wednesday.
Nominations for Spring/Summer
Yard of the Season
The Edgewater Garden Club is taking nominations for the Spring/Summer Yard of the Season. Nominations will be accepted until May 15, 2012. We would love to have at least one nomination from every neighborhood so tell us about that beautiful yard in your neighborhood that you’re always envious of when you drive by. Photo attachments are welcome, but not necessary. While the award is based on the front yard, if the nominated yard also includes a backyard that backs up to Edgewater Drive, the backyard will be considered as part of the nomination.
Send your nominations by e-mail to carmelitapalmer@clearchannel.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
On this beautiful Sunday morning this sweet cat was spotted “up a tree” on Sugar Leaf Court.
Good neighbors Cathy and John Filippo called Madison Animal Control and then the Madison Fire Department arrived with a ladder and bucket. One fireman and the animal officer went up and brought down this sweet beautiful cat. We discovered that this wanderer belonged to Susan Ingenthron of Heritage Woods and she had been looking for her baby since last night. Susan was very grateful to havekitty safe in her arms. All is now quiet on Sugar Leaf Court may hudson

Check your curbs, sidewalks and driveways for weeds or grass growing in the expansion joints. Dig them out and/or use a herbicide to achieve a clean curb appeal for your property.

8:00am – 9:00am – Pool closed for maintenance
9:00am – 10:00pm – Open swim
Notes from the EOA Covenants Committee:
We do so appreciate the work that goes into the gorgeous lawns and beautiful gardens throughout the neighborhoods! Lawn and garden maintenance season is here with the advent of spring. Mowing and weeding become regular hobbies for some and drudgery for others! We haven’t been sending “weedy and needy!” reminders out yet — but there are a few yards that need a little of your help (when they dry out from the rains)! And – PLEASE – a reminder that those plastic bags full of lawn debris and tree limbs don’t belong on the street until the night before scheduled garbage pickup day.
WEDNESDAY RECYCLES:
Put out on Tuesday night or before 6:00 AM for Wednesday pickup day. More information: http://www.swdahsv.org/
THURSDAY TRASH AND GARBAGE:
Put out Wednesday night or before 6:00 AM for Thursday pickup day.
More information: Madison – 256-532-1512 or 256-532-3718
More information: Huntsville – 256-883-3964
YARD DEBRIS:
Bag your grass clippings and leaves, put bags out at curb on Wednesday night for Thursday pickup (Huntsville) and Thursday night for Friday pickup (Madison). Tree limbs and branches cut to no more than 4-foot lengths and stacked at curb for pickup.
NOTE: There are holiday schedules, usually a one-day delay on TRASH AND GARBAGE. Recently, there have been delays in picking up yard debris -maybe your clean-ups have overwhelmed the capacity of the trucks and drivers?
We like to see the flowers BUT we’d rather not see those GARDEN HOSES. Sure are lots of them showing on the fronts and front sides of houses (hanging them on your house or a post is not allowed, either, no matter how attractive the hanger is to you!). When they’re not actually being used, they can be stored in those fully enclosed box-type hose reel containers, and the containers may be at the rear of the driveway or rear side of the house but not in front or front side areas. We recommended an exception recently for a townhouse without side yards.
Thanks:
- to those who removed the statues from atop the mailboxes!
- to those who are cleaning the grime and mold off their basketball goals!
- to those who are cleaning and painting their rusty mailboxes!
- and for the feedback to the committee members.
We’re seeing fewer Green Monsters left on the streets – thank you! But still one or two garbage cans are being stored in driveways or only partially out of sight from the street. Please move them completely out of sight or screen them from view! They should simply not be seen at all from the front or side streets. There are some exceptions for corner lots or very unusual situations.
We think it’s downright rude to park across a sidewalk! Did you know that after five (5) days, vehicles parked on pathways (sidewalks are pathways and even more, rights-of-way) are considered a nuisance and may be removed from the community? And how about interference with the right-of-way for fire trucks, ambulances, and other vehicles when you park on a circle or across from another parked car?
Spring Fever? Boating? RV-ing? Let’s review the Edgewater community policies: Automobiles and other vehicles [e.g. boat trailer] may be parked alongside the boat ramp only when the boat (with an EOA sticker) is being launched. Daylight parking is permitted on the Edgewater street circle in the boat ramp area but vehicles may not block traffic. Recreational vehicles may be parked in the community for up to48 hours prior to and after using the recreational vehicle.
And finally, a few significant VIOLATIONS witnessed:
- Teenager shooting BB GUN at the boat ramp reported. No weapons of any kind are permitted to be used in the Edgewater Community!
- Dog with leash, running free, not under control, aggressive behavior by dog and by owner to bystanders.
- Dog running free, jumped on child. Dog over 150 pounds, child less than 50 pounds.
- Four dogs (allegedly from neighboring communities) running free on lake paths. Dogs left; owners left; droppings from dogs did not leave.
- Alleged loitering in EOA Clubhouse parking lot; young people left when asked about residence.
- Cars parked in clubhouse lot, not in designated spaces, blocking other cars. Drivers apparently enjoying Edgewater left via Zierdt Road.
